Cyrillic Information Representation
in Electronic Form
Dear Visitor!
You visited the Web-site, related to the problem of cyrillic information representation in the electronic form.
The development of WWW and other forms of information representation in the Internet has contributed to the complexity of a long-standing problem of Russian-language (and Cyrillic in general) information coding. The problem here is the absence of a unified code table for representation of Cyrillic information in the electronic form. On the one hand, there is no currently such a standar, but on the other hand, there exist and are used intensively several variants of Cyrillic information coding.
The project is aimed to solve the Cyrillic information representation problem by offering a unified standard, development of related screen and printer fonts and giving them a public domain status for free distribution via the Internet.
Project is running from 1996 with partial financial support from
International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)
as a large project of the Section on Information Technology
and from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) within
the LibWeb Project.
